Volunteering at our Day Home or mentoring program:
Mentoring: Meet with the girls at DTG to develop deeper relationships with the girls. The goal is to connect with a youth and develop a one-on-one relationship that meets outside of DTG. Currently requires you to attend our Wednesday night Programing from 3-6pm or select Tuesdays from 6-8pm. Through attending Wednesday you are able to meet with the youth in an organic and non-threatening manner. You participate in groups and eat a delicious dinner together.
Requirements: Application, references, interview, background check, and trainings such as mandatory reporting, trauma informed care, sex trafficking, engagement, domestic violence, oppression and privilege, boundaries, etc. 1 year commitment at least. It is about 12 hours per month
Teach a group at the Day Home: Teach a skills group to the girls for 4-6 weeks. Ex: relaxation, dance, life skills, cooking, pottery, painting, kickboxing, etc.
Requirements: Application, interview, collaborate with Program Director and Case Manager to make sure group fits the needs of the girls as well as developmentally appropriate/trauma informed.
Cleaning up the Day Home: We need a team of individuals that love to clean to help take care of our space for the girls! We love being able to provide these girls with a beautiful space! Our place is pretty small so it doesn’t take long. Weekly or bi-monthly, an hour to two hours.
Requirements: Application. You can attend trainings if you are interested in coming but since you won’t be working with the girls it is not required (please state that you are interested in attending trainings on application)
Dinner Provider: Provide a delicious meal for the girls and volunteers (about 10-15 people). You will be placed on a rotating schedule for the year. Looking for a main dish, salad, some sort of drink for everyone (they love juice!), and a dessert. Needs to be at the Day Home before 2:30pm or by 4:30pm if it is already cooked and just needs to stay warm.
Requirements: Application. You can attend trainings if you are interested in learning more about this population (please state that you are interested in attending trainings on application).
Organize/Inventory our Donations: Once a month we will need someone to help organize our donations as well as document what we have so we can update our list of needed items!
Requirements: Application. . You can attend trainings if you are interested in learning more about this population (please state that you are interested in attending trainings on application).
